Communicators Reconnect in First Event of the Season

By Patrícia Garcia Lopes – Communications – CPRSMB

Fall Mixer brought friends together and introduced the new Board of Directors for 2023

After a long and productive Summer break, CPRS Manitoba started this new season on a high note. On Oct. 3, communicators from all over our province headed to Brazen Hall Restaurant & Brewery, in Winnipeg, for an evening of fun and great conversations.

CPRS’ events are known for bringing together new and seasoned communicators, opening opportunities for contact and future cooperation. In our Fall Mixer, PR professionals from non-profit, government, corporate and agency sectors welcomed new students and fresh practitioners to the PR field. For those who are starting their careers, these events provide tips and conversations that help them refine their professional goals; For seasoned specialists, it’s a chance to meet future colleagues and discover new talents. By connecting people with different levels of experience, we help our members to create stronger networks while learning from each other and growing with each other.

This Fall Mixer also marked a new moment for our chapter, as it was the first event created by our new Board of Directors. While Monique Chenier, APR starts her 2-year-mandate as President of the Manitoba chapter, Charlie McDougall, APR assumes as Vice-President. David Hultin, APR moves to the Past President position and continues to be the chapter’s Treasurer. The board welcomes back Jennifer Pawluk, APR, who is now Chair of Accreditation. Erin Girouard, APR is the new Chair of Professional Development, teaming-up with Nick Sears to keep bringing us great opportunities to meet and grow. The board also gladly receives Kristen Hooper as Chair of the Membership department. Patrícia Garcia Lopes and Lionel Pinto assume new positions in the Communications department. Patrícia remains as the board’s Secretary.

Networking events are not only a great place to meet colleagues from different companies around Manitoba and Canada, but are also a space to catch up with the board’s work and projects. Our in-person meetings are an opportunity for CPRS current and future members to offer first hand feedback, and help us constantly improve our chapter’s services to the community. Members of our board of directors participate in every event and are always open to listen to new ideas and suggestions.

If you missed our last event, stay tuned and start getting ready for our Holiday Mixer in December!
