There are five different types of CPRS Memberships: Member, Affiliate, Associate, Individual Member and Student. To apply, please follow these three steps:
STEP ONE
Read and become familiar with the CPRS Code of Professional Standards as well as the five types of membership, as below. Please note, if you work in an organization with five or more CPRS members, please consider our Employer Group Membership (EGM).
STEP TWO
Determine which membership category best applies to you:
Member: $396.00
Renewing Member: $343.50
A member is defined as an individual who is employed in public relations; or teaches or administers a public relations course; or possesses a diploma, certificate or degree in public relations on the date of application.
Affiliate Member: $203.25
Renewing Affiliate: $177.00
An affiliate member is defined as: On the date of application, the individual has been employed full time less than two years in public relations. After two years of membership at the Affiliate level, the member would be required to renew as a full member.
Associate: $396.00
Renewing Associate: $343.50
An associate member is defined as: On the date of application, the individual is not employed full time in public relations, or is employed in functions partially related to public relations.
Individual: $336
Renewing Individual: $283.50
An individual member is defined as: Applicant must live and work outside specific geographical areas and must meet the eligibility requirements as for Member.
Student: $40.00
Student memberships are valid for 18 months and are defined by CPRS Manitoba as students who:
- Have been accepted by a college or university to begin a public relations program or communications-related program in Manitoba within the next six months, OR;
- Are currently enrolled in a public relations or communications-related program at a Manitoba college or university; or have graduated from a public relations or communications-related program at a college or university within the last 12 months and have not yet gained employment.
STEP THREE
Complete your registration on the CPRS website if you fall within the first FOUR categories. If you are applying for a student membership the form is available here. All your information will be kept confidential.
