Who is the next Manitoba Communicator of the Year?
CPRS Manitoba to host fifth annual award

WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is inviting nominations for its fifth annual Manitoba Communicator of the Year Award.

The organization established the prestigious award to recognize individuals or organizations that have demonstrated excellence in public relations and communications in business, politics, entertainment, a non-profit environment, or the community at large.  The Communicator of the Year is selected by a panel of senior CPRS Manitoba members, and the winner will be introduced at a gala luncheon on April 18, 2012 at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg.

Deadline for nominations is Friday, January 20, 2012.

Last year’s award winner was Manitoba Homecoming 2010, led by Kevin Walters.  The year-long experience brought former and current Manitobans, visitors, family and friends together for events, festivals and an all-around great celebration.  CPRS was impressed with initiatives to celebrate the music, culture and community spirit of Manitoba and the people who live and work here.

In 2010, Clare MacKay of The Forks North Portage Partnership was recognized for the revitalization of The Forks’ as an exciting destination for visitors and locals alike. In 2009, Heather Plett of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank took home the title for her work promoting her Winnipeg-based humanitarian effort nationally and internationally. She followed inaugural winners Gail Asper and Kim Jasper who won for their efforts to promote The Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Both the award recipients and all the impressive nominations from past years have demonstrated the creativity and sound communications strategies delivered by Manitoba’s public relations professionals.  CPRS Manitoba is proud to be able to recognize the best in the profession.
