Election Reflection – Brand, Negativity, Public Opinion and Why it Matters – November 15, 2019

Join us for a panel discussion with experts as we take a deep dive into communications across the political landscape.

About this Event

With the provincial and federal elections behind us, Manitobans have experienced their fair share of political campaigns. Communications, branding, and public relations are no strangers to the political world and comprise essential elements of all campaigns – political or not.

We all know too well that these campaigns can be far from positive. But when do they cross the line in the court of public opinion? When do the spokespeople go too far and affect the brand and ultimately public perception of leaders and parties? And what do you do afterwards? What steps can you do beforehand? These questions and dilemmas are faced by communications professionals every day, across all industries.

Join us as moderator Adam Dooley, President of Dooley PR & Marketing leads a dynamic panel discussion.

The panelists:

Mary Agnes Welch – Principal, Probe Research

David Leibl – Communications strategist & Principal of Guidepost Strategies

Michelle Finley – Veteran communications professional and community leader

We’ll take a deep dive into:

  • Message framing and the best way to do it.
  • How your spokesperson is connected to your brand and more importantly, your audience.
  • Responding to the media – do you always have to?
  • Public pressure and how to respond honestly while maintaining brand position.
