
Members
To be eligible for membership in the Canadian Public Relations Society, applicants must devote most of their work-for-pay time to the practice of Public Relations, have a degree in Public Relations, or be a career teacher or administrator engaged in Public Relations and/or communications education at an accredited post-secondary institution. Applicants shall be considered, first by the Manitoba Membership Director, then by the CPRS Executive Director, to ensure they meet the requirements established by CPRS Regulations.

Individual Members
Individual Members are those Members located at a considerable distance from a Member Society (the geographic area which is established by the Board of Directors) or who live outside Canada, and who otherwise meet the requirements of regular membership eligibility.
Life Members
Life Members are honoured with Life Membership by their Member Society for their contribution both to Public Relations and the Society. Typically, Life Members are retired industry veterans with at least 25 years of CPRS experience.
Student Members
Student Members are engaged in the study of PR or Communications at a recognized institution, and also do not currently spend a majority of their work-for-pay time in the practice or teaching of Public Relations, marketing, advertising, or other types of corporate communications.

Retired Members
Retired Members are Members who have retired from active work in the field and meet any national and local pre-requisites for this category.
Inactive Members
Inactive Members are Members who have withdrawn from full-time employment in the practice of Public Relations.
Associates
Applicants who are not devoting most of their work-for-pay time to the practice or teaching of Public Relations can be considered Associates. Associates can take full advantage of national and local benefits and services.
